Our OT department within a mental health setting is buying a weighted blanket, I have been told that I need to develop / provide a protocol for the safe use of the blanket after somone apparently died using one. I have looked this up on the internet and did indeed find the case as well as the recommendations from the inquest. Does anyone have any guidelines / protocols?

Jane

Greetings
In my book I have written a great deal about weighted modalities and there is a sample policy/procedure as well. In addition, I am working on finalizing a free handout about implementing and training staff on the use of WBs. When it is done it will be a free download on my website.

Sincerely,
Tina Champagne
