Sheryl,
We use it in an informal sense to validate our score on the ACL. Usually we will go by the caregiver report and some observation of their function. Very rarely do we ask the client (self report) because they often have an unrealistic view of their abilities. We look mostly at the Self Awareness Disability section (grooming, dressing, bathing etc..) and at parts of the Occupational Role Disability section (spare time, pacing/timing, exerting efforts, judging results, etc...). This inventory gives you a general sense of their level of cognitive function (1-6), but is not as specific as the ACL so that we why we use it mainly to validate a score. Sometimes if we have a client who refuses to do the ACL we will use this just to get a general cognitive level. I think it is useful also in formulating goals as well, because it gives a very functional picture of a person! Terrie

You may be interested in knowing that Noomi Katz updated the RTI very recently and more info on this is available on this through the Allen Cognitive Advisors site.

Tina,
Thanks for the heads up on the RTI update. I went to the site and I really like the changes! It is a much more "user friendly" form. Terrie
